Treatment FAQs

  • Most treatments are very quick.

Cryotherapy can cause a brief stinging or burning sensation as the blemish is frozen.

For Laser removal, appropriate pain-relief or local anaesthetic options may be used depending on the area and treatment required.

  • Any treatment that removes or destroys skin tissue carries some risk of scarring.

Our aim is to treat the blemish as precisely as possible while minimising unnecessary trauma to the surrounding skin.

Following your aftercare carefully - particularly avoiding picking the area - is important for achieving the best possible cosmetic result.

  • Often, but not always.

Many blemishes respond well to a single treatment. Some lesions, particularly larger, deeper or more persistent ones, may require another treatment once the area has fully healed.

  • Healing varies depending on the treatment method, size and location of the blemish.

A small scab or crust commonly forms and gradually comes away as the skin underneath heals. Some temporary pinkness may remain afterwards and gradually fade.

  • Certain benign moles may be suitable for cosmetic removal, but not every mole should be removed using Cryotherapy or CO₂ Laser.

Any mole that appears suspicious, has changed or cannot confidently be identified as benign should be appropriately assessed before cosmetic treatment.

We will advise you if further mole screening is required.

  • If there is any uncertainty about the nature of a lesion, we may recommend further assessment or mole screening before proceeding.

Any lesion with concerning features should be appropriately medically assessed rather than cosmetically removed.

  • Yes, in many cases multiple suitable blemishes can be treated during the same appointment.

Your practitioner will assess the number, size and location of the blemishes and advise whether they can safely be treated together.

  • ● Treatment is only performed on lesions considered appropriate for cosmetic removal

    ● Results and healing times vary between individuals

    ● More than one treatment may occasionally be required

    ● There is a risk of scarring and temporary or permanent pigmentation changes with any lesion-removal procedure

    ● Suspicious or changing lesions require appropriate medical assessment before cosmetic treatment

    ● Full aftercare instructions will be provided following treatment

  • Dermal fillers are injectable substances most commonly consisting of hyaluronic acid. They are used to effectively add volume, smooth folds, and improve facial features, giving you a refreshed and youthful appearance.

  • Good candidates for dermal filler treatments are typically seeking to address specific areas including lip enhancement, cheek volume enhancement, tear trough filler, and non-surgical rhinoplasty. Dermal fillers can also address various signs of aging, such as deep wrinkles and folds, volume loss, and pre-jowls. Not everybody is suitable for dermal filler treatments depending on your individual case and desired outcome. Your desired outcome and suitability for the treatment will be assessed at the initial consultation.

    1. Consultation: A consultation will take place to discuss your treatment goals and medical history.

    2. Ultrasound: An ultrasound scan of the treatment area may be performed for safety and efficacy of treatment.

    3. Preparation: The treatment area is thoroughly disinfected. Numbing (cream or injections) are used to provide maximum comfort during the treatment.

    4. Injection: Once the area is prepared, the dermal filler is carefully injected beneath the skin using a fine needle or cannula. The injection process is relatively quick and usually well-tolerated. After the injections, the practitioner may massage the treated area to ensure the filler is evenly distributed. They will also assess the results and make any necessary adjustments to achieve the best result.

    5. Post-treatment care: You may experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site. You will be provided with post-treatment care instructions to minimise any potential side effects and ensure the best results.

    6. Follow-up: A follow-up will be arrange after 2 weeks to ensure your treatment has healed well and assess the need for a top-up if applicable to achieve best results.

  • You will see the change immediately after your treatment! However, you will be able to see the final result after 1-2 weeks once the area heals and the filler settles into it's final position. The long-term results can last from several months to over a year, depending on the filler type, treatment area, and individual patient factors.

  • Immediate post-treatment effects may include swelling, redness, and bruising. These begin to subside within a few hours to a few days. The complete healing process usually takes 2 weeks. Following post-treatment care instructions is essential to ensure a smooth healing process and optimal results.

"I would highly recommend. Hazar is professional and is also so lovely. She really put me at ease. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my aesthetic treatments."

Unwanted skin blemishes can be frustrating, particularly when they are noticeable, catch on clothing or simply affect how you feel about your skin.

At NIU Clinic, we offer Cryotherapy and CO₂ Laser blemish removal, allowing us to select the most appropriate treatment based on the type, size and location of your blemish.

Our focus is always on safe, precise treatment while minimising unnecessary damage to the surrounding skin.

Treatment Information

  • Blemish removal involves carefully targeting unwanted benign skin lesions to destroy or remove the affected tissue, allowing the area to heal naturally.

Depending on the type of blemish, we may recommend one of two methods:

    Cryotherapy

Uses controlled freezing to destroy the targeted tissue. It is a quick and effective option for many superficial skin lesions.

    CO₂ Laser

Uses a highly precise laser to remove or vaporise targeted tissue layer by layer, making it particularly useful when greater precision is required.

Your practitioner will assess the blemish and advise which method is most appropriate.

  • Depending on suitability, blemish removal may be used for:

    ● Skin tags

    ● Warts

    ● Seborrhoeic keratoses

    ● Raised benign blemishes

    ● Certain benign moles

    ● Other unwanted benign skin lesions

Not every blemish is suitable for cosmetic removal. If we are unsure about a lesion, we will recommend further assessment before proceeding.

  • Not every blemish should be treated in the same way.

Having both Cryotherapy and Laser available means we can choose the treatment best suited to your individual blemish rather than relying on one removal method.

    ● Choice of Cryotherapy or Laser

    ● Treatment tailored to the type and location of the blemish

    ● Precise treatment with surrounding skin carefully protected

    ● Experienced medical professionals

    ● Honest advice on whether treatment is appropriate

    ● Aftercare and follow-up guidance

  • Results depend on the type, size and depth of the blemish being treated.

Following treatment, the area may darken, crust or form a small scab as it heals. The treated tissue will gradually shed away as new skin forms underneath.

Some smaller blemishes may only require one treatment, while larger, deeper or more persistent lesions may require additional sessions.

  • Once a blemish has been successfully removed, the result can be long-lasting.

However, some lesions can recur and new blemishes may develop elsewhere over time.

We cannot guarantee permanent removal, and your practitioner will discuss the expected outcome with you before treatment.

  • Downtime is generally minimal, although the treated area will need time to heal. You may experience:

    ● Redness or mild swelling

    ● Tenderness

    ● A small blister following Cryotherapy

    ● Darkening or crusting of the treated area

    ● A small scab as the skin heals

    ● Temporary pinkness once the scab has fallen away

Healing time varies depending on the treatment method, size and location of the blemish.

  • To support healthy healing:

    ● Keep the treated area clean

    ● Do not pick or remove scabs

    ● Avoid scratching or rubbing the area

    ● Protect the area from friction while healing

    ● Avoid active skincare directly over the area until healed

    ● Use high-factor SPF once the area has healed sufficiently

    ● Follow the personalised aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner

Allow any scab or crust to come away naturally to reduce the risk of scarring or pigmentation changes.

  • Blemish removal may be suitable if you have an unwanted skin lesion that has been assessed as appropriate for cosmetic removal.

Before treatment, we will assess the:

    ● Type of blemish

    ● Size and depth

    ● Location

    ● Skin type

    ● Medical history

    ● Most appropriate removal method

We will not remove lesions that appear suspicious or where we are not confident that cosmetic removal is appropriate.

If a mole or lesion requires further assessment, we may recommend specialist mole screening before treatment.

Your safety always comes before removal.

  • You don't need to decide this yourself.

Cryotherapy can be ideal for smaller, superficial lesions where controlled freezing is an effective option.

CO₂ Laser allows very precise removal and may be preferable for certain raised or more defined blemishes, particularly where careful control of the treatment area is important.

During your assessment, we will recommend the most appropriate option based on the individual blemish.
